The Merchandising Product Manager is responsible for owning product lines, identifying gaps, and delivering against performance targets while ensuring effective merchandising across platforms.ResponsibilitiesOwn product portfolio strategy and assortment gap identificationDetermine product path to market (build, manufacture, or source)Build and manage product business cases including revenue, margin, pricing inputs, and unit economicsOwn product lifecycle decisions including iteration, repositioning, and sunsettingDefine product requirements, success metrics, and acceptance criteriaPartner cross-functionally to deliver products effectivelyServe as the internal owner for assigned product linesAnalyze categories to identify assortment gaps and growth opportunitiesRecommend product additions, deletions, and assortment changesMonitor category performance and adjust strategy based on data and insightsDevelop category roadmaps and assortment strategiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with strategic vendors and manufacturersAct as the primary product and assortment counterpart to vendors and manufacturersEngage partners early in product discovery and lifecycle planningIncorporate partner insights into product and assortment strategyOwn product-level pricing strategy, target margins, and business case assumptionsCollaborate with the Director of Engineering and sourcing team on domestic sourcingStrongly influence overseas sourcing led by EngineeringValidate pricing and sourcing outcomes against approved business casesRetain ownership of economic outcomes and strategic fitDevelop merchandising plans aligned with category and promotional strategiesEnsure product presentation standards across platforms and partner sitesSupport sales and line review activities as neededSkillsBachelors degree or equivalent experience5+ years of Product Management experience with merchandising exposureStrong Product Management fundamentals with full lifecycle ownershipProven experience managing product economics and business casesDeep merchandising and category management expertiseExperience working with vendors and manufacturersStrong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsCommitted to diversity and inclusionReliable transportationValid driver's licenseWillingness to travel up to 15%Prior energy efficiency product or utility energy efficiency program experience highly desiredPrior hardware experience highly preferredCompany OverviewFranklin Energy delivers end-to-end sustainability solutions through a portfolio of intelligent products and services that lower energy costs, reduce carbon and waste, and grow stronger communities and local economies.
