The role involves client-facing strategy work, focusing on retail media networks and integrated retail transformation initiatives.ResponsibilitiesSupport discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and synthesisTranslate client inputs into structured analyses and opportunity frameworksDevelop clear articulation of how RMNs must serve brand objectives (sales lift, share growth, ROI, measurement transparency)Ground recommendations in commercial and financial logic, informed by real-world RMN operationsOwn defined workstreams across:Retail Media strategyBrand-to-retail alignmentRetail GTM modernizationIn-housing and operating model assessmentsBuild supporting analyses, financial models, and executive-ready materialsContribute to roadmap development and value modelingDemonstrate understanding of:How retail media networks are structured, priced, and sold to advertisersRetailer revenue models and margin considerations tied to mediaMeasurement expectations (incrementality, attribution, closed-loop reporting)Investment decision frameworks used by brand and shopper teamsEnsure RMN strategies reflect real-world retailer and advertiser expectationsSupport workshop preparation and executive presentationsContribute to proposal development and research for new businessAssist in codifying frameworks and reusable retail media assetsContribute to POVs and webinar contentSupport in the elevation of firm positioning in retail marketing strategySkills6–10 years in retail media, strategy consulting, commercial strategy, or related rolesExperience working within a Retail Media Network (retailer-side), with exposure to how media offerings are commercialized and sold to brandsExperience on the sell-side of retail media (e.g., RMN sales, account management, partnerships, or commercial strategy)Hands-on experience in retail media execution and/or strategy, not limited to activationStrong understanding of grocery and/or mass retail media networksExposure to in-store retail dynamics (e.g., merchandising, store operations, shopper marketing execution) alongside retail mediaExperience with major RMNs such as Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Kroger Precision Marketing, or similar grocery and mass retail networksExperience working with multiple RMNs or across retailer ecosystemsCPG or agency experience as complementary backgroundStrong analytical and data and insights synthesizing skills; comfortable building structured analyses and light financial modelsUnderstanding of brand + performance marketing intersectionAbility to communicate clearly in executive-ready materialsCollaborative and comfortable operating in ambiguity with guidanceCompany OverviewOverline is a global marketing consultancy that helps CMOs turn strategy into action and get change over the line.
