The Managing Director will lead valuation engagements, manage staff, and contribute to business development activities while ensuring quality project delivery.ResponsibilitiesExecutes office business development plan in conjunction with the Valuation leaderBuilds relationships with key executives and stakeholders in support of the growth of the office business lines and industriesUnderstands how to work with Alliance Firms and coordinates with international firms as appropriate on opportunities as they ariseContributes business development thought leadership, tools and resources to the broader national platformEnsures Client Project Delivery including but not limited to:Performing of related company, industry and economic researchAnalysis of client financial statementsConstruction of financial modelsAssessment of operational profitability and financial conditionsDevelopment and review of cash flow forecastsPerforming of benchmark analysisDocumentation and maintenance of all appropriate aspects of work productComposition of narrative reports in support of valuation analysesPreparation of necessary exhibits and memos in illustration of complex issuesEnsuring of quality controls are adherence in association with all work productsParticipation in internal and external client meetingsOther duties as requiredSupervises the day-to-day workload of Valuation & Capital Market Analysis (“VCMA”) Staff on assigned engagements and reviews work productEnsures VCMA Staff are trained on all relevant valuation databases and modelsEvaluates the performance of VCMA Staff and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional developmentDelivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for VCMA StaffActs as Career Advisor to VCMA Staff, as appropriateSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or EconomicsFifteen (15) plus years of real estate business valuation experience at one of the Big 4 accounting firms or a national role at a small to mid-size firmSignificant experience in real estate valuation and consultingPrior experience in financial reporting valuation and appraisal reviewProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and WordAbility for intermittent travel within the US and internationallySuperior oral and written communication skillsSuperior analytical and research skillsSolid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentProven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyCapable of effective managing a team of valuation professionals and delegating work assignments as neededCapacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnelAbility to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnelExecutive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagementsAbility to successfully interact with professionals at all levelsMaster's in Business AdministrationState Certified General Real Estate Appraiser licenseMAI, ASA, CPA, CFA, AM, or other valuation industry credentialsPrior experience with Argus Enterprise and CoStarBenefitsBDO is proud to be an ESOP company, reflecting a culture that puts people first, by sharing financially in our growth in value with our U.S. team.BDO is the first large accounting and advisory organization to implement an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
