They are seeking an experienced Manager, Software Engineering to lead their engineering team in creating reliable and scalable digital products while driving engineering excellence and fostering a high-performance culture.ResponsibilitiesServe as both a technical leader and people manager, guiding your team to make sound architectural and engineering decisionsSupport your team through regular one-on-ones, clear communication of priorities, cross-functional collaboration, and by proactively removing blockers and resolving conflictsMentor and develop team members, fostering career growth, engagement, and a high-performance culturePartner with business and technology leadership to align on priorities, manage stakeholder expectations, and deliver impactful outcomesProvide accurate effort estimates and technical input for new features, enhancements, and product initiativesPromote ownership and accountability across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from design through delivery and operationsCollaborate closely with product management and design to prioritize and execute on the team’s roadmapWork with fellow engineering leaders to continuously improve engineering practices, processes, and overall team effectivenessEncourage the adoption of AI development tools and intelligent solutions to improve productivity and product capabilitiesParticipate in security and compliance governance, including PCI and PII standardsTake on additional responsibilities as needed to support team and organizational successSkills8+ years in a software engineering role following Agile development processes3+ years in team lead or management roleStrong understanding of software engineering best practicesSolid track record of leading a software engineering team in a technical capacityDemonstrated ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and qualityExperience leading geographically dispersed teams in a collaborative, team-driven environmentAdept at prioritizing and balancing multiple projects in a constantly evolving environmentStrong understanding of system design, scalability, performance and reliability best practices5+ years of hands-on experience architecting, designing and developing technology platforms using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript3+ years of experience working with relational and NoSQL database platforms (MySQL, MongoDB)Some experience with modern caching technologies (Redis preferred)Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments, including familiarity with cloud-native architectures and servicesDeep understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectureOutstanding interpersonal skills: written and verbal, in-person, and remoteExperience leveraging AI-assisted development tools or integrating AI/ML capabilities into products or engineering workflowsExperience working in high-availability, high-traffic production environmentsExperience developing or integrating with movie theater or entertainment systemsExperience developing Point of Sale, F&B, Ticketing, Inventory or Order Management SystemsExperience working with CRM, Loyalty and Membership solutionsExperience integrating Payment platforms, including EMV and card reader integrationsExperience with DevOps and SecOps practicesExperience with monitoring, logging and observability toolsUnderstanding of the mindset of 'Fail Fast, Learn Fast' and continuous improvementCompany OverviewVersant Media is a media company that offers television and digital entertainment services.
