[Remote] Manager-OSP Engineering

TDS Telecom is dedicated to providing high-speed internet, TV entertainment, and phone services across the U.S. They are seeking a Manager-OSP Engineering to oversee the planning, coordination, and supervision of outside plant field construction and splicing operations. The role involves managing construction projects, ensuring compliance with standards, and working closely with various stakeholders to meet company objectives.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the management of TDS associates and/or consultants who are responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising outside plant field construction and splicing operations in multiple locations and statesProvide technical support for special request projects such as records verification, major road moves or potential on-net buildsWork with Finance to ensure proper accounting of facilities placed and interact with the legal department to ensure that the company is not at risk in any asset transfersProvide audits of OSP projects and coach Associate Managers – OSP Engineering & Construction and/or contractors to ensure accuracy and consistencyManage construction projects by reviewing quality of work, clean up resolution, proper maintenance of project documentation and continual review of project progressReview all required reports from field personnel and contractor invoicing for accuracyEnsure that the TDS OSP group complies with Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines and other departments such as Network Planning, Rights-of-Way and Contract AdministrationConduct pre-staking, pre-bid and pre-construction meetings as requiredVerify that proper right-of-way, easements and permits are obtained and designs for proper cable sizing and facility routingSchedule and coordinate acceptance testing of new outside plant facilitiesPeriodically review and update audits and facility maps to ensure accuracyArrange to update records upon the completion of construction projectsVerify that all network additions are included on the local 'one-call' mapping systemVerify that all documentation required to complete projects successfully, including Bid Jobs, Build orders, Job Start Agreements, VMOP’s and close out documentation is completeProvides human resource management and manpower apportionment necessary for completion of network projectsConduct periodic quality assurance inspection of OSP projects performed by Local Operations personnelProvide recommendations to management for improving standards and practices resulting in higher quality and lower cost projectsManage specific projects OSP projects directly if schedule permitsDesign projects and prepare OSP workplans for construction or modification of network facilities if schedule permitsAssist in the training of field personnel on standards, RUS and TDS practices, time reporting codes and report/form preparationAssist Network Operations staff in developing Capital Additions, Budget assumptions and long-range planningSkillsBachelor's Degree (or higher) –OR- 4 years of professional work experience7+ years' experience in telephony or related fields5+ years' supervisory experienceMust have and maintain a valid driver's licenseProficient with GIS and ESRiOSP design experienceExcellent leadership, customer relations and communications skillsThorough Understanding of Telecommunications industry and principalsAbility to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyExcellent written and oral communications skillsJira, Outlook, Excel and Office suiteAdvanced working knowledge of RUS construction practices and engineering standardsAbility to work in a cooperative and courteous manner with diverse work groupsMust be self-motivated and self-reliantMay be required to regular travel on an “as-needed” basisBenefitsMedical CoverageDental CoverageVision CoverageLife Insurance401(k) PlanGenerous Vacation & Paid Sick LeaveSeven Paid National Holidays & One Floating HolidayPaid Parental Leave (6 weeks after 12 months of employment)Adoption & Surrogacy AssistanceEmployee Assistance & Wellness ProgramsShort-Term & Long-Term DisabilityTDS Service DiscountsEducation AssistancePaid Volunteer TimeAssociates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to:Associates working 30 or more hours per week additionally have access to:In addition to these benefits, all associates will have the opportunity to participate in our Associate Resource Groups, which are designed to encourage community and facilitate professional development.Company OverviewLegacy.com is a commercial provider of online memorials that hosts online obituary sections for newspapers throughout the U.S. It was founded in 1998, and is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, USA, with a workforce of 201-500 employees.
