[Remote] Manager of Software Engineering

They are seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Virtual Care backend development team, driving technical excellence and overseeing the delivery of scalable and reliable software while mentoring engineers and maintaining operational health for the platform.ResponsibilitiesLead the Virtual Care engineering team's planning, 1:1s, and growth conversationsOwn delivery across the virtual care roadmap, partnering with Product, Design, and Quality through all phases of development on a two-week Scrum cadenceStay hands-on: review the team's PRs, set the technical bar, and write code on the highest-leverage problemsOwn operational health for the platform: reliability, performance, on-call, and incident response for a platform clinicians depend on to deliver careUphold the security and compliance bar that PHI-handling clinical software requires, partnering with security and compliance ownersReport up on roadmap progress, team health, and risks, and represent virtual care engineering to executive and cross-functional stakeholdersSkills7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing or tech-leading an engineering teamA track record of shipping and operating production web or mobile applications as part of a cross-functional agile teamStrong technical depth ideally in Ruby on Rails or a comparable backendExperience owning operational health for production systems: reliability, monitoring, on-call, and incident responseExperience working with PHI or in another regulated environment (HIPAA, SOC 2, or comparable), or demonstrated readiness to own that barExcellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to grow engineers and hold a high technical barAuthorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now and in the futureExperience in virtual care, telehealth, or clinical software specificallyExperience integrating AI/LLM features into production product surfacesExperience as the first or second engineering manager in a growing orgA bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldBenefitsA comprehensive benefits package such as medical, dental, vision, unlimited PTO, and a 401(k) planStock options and bonusesCompany OverviewFabric is an innovator in healthcare enablement software.
