They are seeking a Manager, Carrier Operations and Capacity Procurement to develop and execute strategies for securing and optimizing transportation capacity while managing carrier relationships and performance metrics.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the capacity procurement strategy across First and Middle Mile operationsBuild and maintain a dense, competitive carrier network across all priority lanesLead carrier RFP events end-to-end — design, bid analysis, award decisions, and onboardingForecast future capacity needs based on volume projections and proactively secure dedicated capacity ahead of demandNegotiate carrier contracts with focus on rate structure, fuel surcharge mechanism, accessorials, volume commitments, service guarantees, and termination termsDevelop and maintain strategic carrier relationships at the senior level; serve as the primary carrier-facing point of contactOwn carrier performance metrics covering cost, commitment, visibility, and reliabilitySource, onboard, and ensure ongoing compliance for all carriers in coordination with risk and compliance teamsEnsure carriers meet safety and regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA)Lead digital visibility adoption across the carrier base — API integrations, ELD connectivity, and driver app toolingPartner with Sales and Account Management to provide accurate carrier capacity liquidity intelligenceCommunicate freight market conditions to internal stakeholders to inform pricing, commitments, and client conversationsIdentify and resolve capacity-related operational issues and bottlenecksIdentify and execute cost-saving opportunities through negotiation, lane consolidation, and capacity mix optimizationSkills5+ years of transportation procurement or carrier management experienceStrong understanding of first and middle mile linehaul operationsProven success negotiating carrier contracts in dynamic freight marketsExperience forecasting capacity needs and managing seasonal volatilityDeep familiarity with transportation management systems and carrier compliance platformsWorking knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulationsAbility to translate freight market conditions into commercial strategyStrong relationship-building skills with carriers and cross-functional teamsBenefitsThis position may include additional compensation in the form of bonuses, equity, or commissionsCompany OverviewA last-mile delivery service that helps brands like American Eagle, HelloFresh and Nespresso meet and exceed customer expectations It was founded in 2015, and is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
