The Manager of Accounting and Finance will lead the month-end close process, prepare financial reporting, and ensure compliance with financial controls while collaborating across departments.ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the monthly and quarterly close process. Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial results through timely close processes, adherence to accounting policies, and collaboration across departmentsOwn and manage the monthly R&D accrual process, collaborating closely with departmental teams to ensure accurate and timely recognition of outsourced research and development expensesPerform and review balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and GAAPLead the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including variance analyses and forecast-to-actual results for management and business partnersLead the preparation of SEC filings (e.g., 10-Q and 10-K), including preparation of supporting schedules and footnotes, in coordination with the management, legal counsel and external auditorsBe the primary point of contact for certain audit requests, including compiling audit support documentation and responding to inquiries from auditorsMaintain documentation and support for internal control processes in compliance with SOX or similar regulatory frameworks, ensuring best practices in financial operationsSupport the corporate budgeting and forecasting cycles by partnering with cross-functional teams to provide timely actuals, accrual inputs, variance analysis and updates to forecast spendManage and monitor procurement-related accounting activities, including review and approval of purchase requisitions, invoices, and purchase order tracking to ensure proper accounting treatmentEvaluate, maintain and improve systems and processes to support scalable growth, including assisting in the implementation and enhancement of financial reporting, procurement, and budgeting systemsDevelop, monitor, and report financial and operational performance metrics to inform decision-making and improve financial visibilityProvide accounting guidance to internal stakeholders related to procurement, R&D spend, contract structure, and budget variances, highlighting risks and opportunitiesIdentify opportunities for process improvement, increased automation, and cross-functional efficiency within the finance function and lead or assist in those improvementsCollaborate with internal G&A and R&D teams to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with financial policies and goalsBuild and maintain strong working relationships across the organization, acting as a trusted partner to business functions while upholding financial integrity and complianceContribute to cross-functional initiatives related to the Company’s potential product commercialization, including financial planning, operational readiness, and compliance supportRead, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies; safe work practices; and company policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned by supervisorSkillsBS in Accounting or Finance5+ years of growing responsibility experience in public accounting, preferably in Pharma/Biotech environmentStrong knowledge of US GAAP and complex accounting issuesDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft excel and strong ability to efficiently navigate systems involved in the financial processExperience working in a SOX controlled environmentExperience conducting internal & external auditsExperience with flux analysis and SEC reportingCPA license preferred, but not requiredKnowledge of NetSuite or similar ERP preferred, but not requiredKnowledge of Coupa or similar procurement systems preferred, but not requiredKnowledge of Shareworks or similar equity management systems preferred, but not requiredBenefitsHealth benefitsA discretionary bonus planStock option grantsA stock purchase planA 401(k) with matchPaid time offCompany OverviewEdgewise Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization.
