Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse portfolio by evaluating submissions and making informed decisions consistent with established guidelines in a timely manner.
Maintain meticulous electronic underwriting files in accordance with company standards.
Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with assigned brokers through prompt and effective communication regarding underwriting decisions.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of upcoming renewals, ensuring accurate and timely issuance of renewal quotes and nonrenewal notices.
Oversee the ongoing management of an existing portfolio to ensure high standards of service.
Provide guidance and supervision to Underwriting Assistants as necessary.
Required Skills
Profound knowledge of commercial property and casualty coverages and services.
Proficient in computer applications, including intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Adobe.
Strong negotiation and sales abilities, with the capacity to convey complex information effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superior organizational and time management capabilities.
Analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail.
Self-driven with a robust work ethic.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
P&C license is preferred; mandatory for residents of California.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting, with a sound understanding of the technical principles of rating and pricing.
