[Remote] Legal Counsel (Remote, US)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Renew Home is on a mission to change how we power the world by making it easier for customers to save energy and money at home. They are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide practical legal advice and support across various commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and product development.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Serve as counsel in preparing, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, with a focus on SaaS, services, and procurement agreements
ā¢ Support commercial contracts, partnerships including with regulated electric utilities, and transactions that support consumer energy solutions
ā¢ Advise cross-functional teams on legal, regulatory, and compliance aspects of product development, launch, licensing, distribution, and marketing
ā¢ Provide guidance on intellectual property, data privacy, open source, and technology licensing issues
ā¢ Identify potential legal and business risks in contracts and develop approaches to mitigate them
ā¢ Support corporate housekeeping and manage outside counsel
ā¢ Work dynamically across the traditional in-house portfolio with minimal supervision
ā¢ Provide legal review and business-focused legal advice across all departments and functions
ā¢ Address broader strategic issues and matters of first impression
Skills
ā¢ JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing
ā¢ 5+ years of legal practice, including in-house experience at a tech company
ā¢ Business-forward in-house lawyer with leadership skills and a proven record of successfully handling complex legal issues, both commercial and product counsel experience preferred
ā¢ Experience negotiating custom commercial deals with regulated electric utilities, retail energy providers, or other load serving entities
ā¢ A legal- and thought-partner for our business development leadership, with direct impact on helping them accelerate deals and win new business
ā¢ Solution-oriented, business-minded, and pragmatic
ā¢ Strategic, results-driven, proactive, and resourceful
ā¢ Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
ā¢ Exceptional judgment and ability to balance risk with corporate objectives
