[Remote] Legal Counsel (Real Estate Development)

The Legal Counsel for Real Estate Development will serve as the primary legal advisor for the company's land acquisition, ground lease, and development agreement activities, working closely with various teams to structure, negotiate, and close real estate transactions.ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, ground leases, development agreements, option agreements, and easements for data center sitesAdvise on land use, zoning, and permitting matters, coordinating with local counsel and government authorities as neededConduct and manage title review, survey analysis, and environmental due diligence for prospective sitesPartner with the Site Selection Manager to evaluate legal risk and structuring options early in the site pipelineManage external real estate counsel relationships, ensuring quality, cost control, and alignment with company standardsDevelop and maintain standard form agreements, negotiation playbooks, and legal guidelines for real estate transactionsAdvise the business on utility easements, interconnection rights, and fiber access agreementsSupport the Finance and M&A teams on real estate aspects of capital transactions or corporate restructuringEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictionsProvide legal training and guidance to non-legal stakeholders on real estate risk managementSkillsJ.D. from an accredited law school; admission to a U.S. state bar required5–10 years of real estate legal experience, ideally including both law firm and in-house backgroundsSubstantial experience with commercial real estate transactions including large-scale land acquisition, ground leases, and development agreementsAbility to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentStrong negotiation skills with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectivesExcellent communication skills with the ability to advise non-lawyer stakeholders clearly and effectivelyFamiliarity with industrial, data center, or infrastructure real estate is strongly preferredPrior experience at a hyperscaler, data center developer, or energy infrastructure companyKnowledge of utility easement law, interconnection agreements, or environmental permittingExperience with international real estate transactionsAbility to manage transactions in multiple states without relying entirely on local counselBenefits100% company-paid insurance premiums for employee medical, dental and vision plans.401(k) plan that matches 100% up to 4%, with immediate vestingProfessional Development Reimbursement of $2,500 each year11 Holidays + Paid Time Off Accrual + Rollover PlanCommitment matters to Vultr!
