The University of Virginia is seeking part-time faculty members for lecturer positions to support the instructional design and delivery of courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing. The role involves updating existing courses, developing new content, and teaching online and in-person sessions, focusing on engaging students in these emerging technologies.ResponsibilitiesReviewing and updating learning outcomesAligning and building refreshed or new course contentDeveloping assignments and assessmentsSupporting hands-on labsTeaching or co-teaching live online undergraduate and/or graduate course sessionsSkillsA graduate degree (master's degree or higher) in computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, or a closely related field is requiredAt least three (3) years of professional experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or cloud-based analytics. This includes experience building, deploying, or working with AI/ML models, tools, or workflowsAt least two (2) years reaching, training, mentoring, or instructional support experience in technical or professional education settings. This may include experience teaching AI, ML, data science, or cloud computing in higher education, professional education, or corporate training environmentsRelevant AI, ML, data science, or cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent) are preferredDemonstrated willingness to stay current with emerging AI technologies, tools, and teaching strategiesExperience designing hands-on labs, projects, or case studies using platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or open-source ML frameworksExperience with online and/or in-person intensive training or education programsProficiency using Canvas or similar learning management systemsRelevant industry certifications and/or professional membershipsCompany OverviewThe University of Virginia was founded in 1819 as the model for modern universities that has since been emulated all over the world.
