The Lead Software Engineer II plays a crucial role in designing and delivering reliable, high-quality software while collaborating with senior engineers and architects to implement scalable and maintainable systems.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and deliver high-quality software iteratively and incrementallyWorks closely with senior leaders to shape solutionsEnsure software follows modern engineering practices, including clean code, testing, automation, and cloud-native patternsSupport continuous improvement in code quality, reliability, performance, and developer experienceBuild and enhance distributed, event-driven, and cloud-native solutions in AWSApply cloud best practices—security, cost awareness, performance, and operational efficiency—under guidance of senior engineersContribute to observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alertsAssist in performance tuning, resiliency improvements, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure system stabilityCollaborate effectively with Product, Architecture, InfoSec, and DevOps to deliver well-aligned solutionsContribute to a culture of learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the engineering teamSkills4 - 6 years of professional software engineering experienceStrong backend development experience with Java and PythonSolid understanding of SQL, data modeling, and query optimizationWorking knowledge of AWS cloud architecture, services, and best practicesExperience with modern databases (relational and NoSQL) such as DynamoDB, RDS, PostgreSQL, DocumentDBFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and container orchestration systems (ECS/EKS preferred)Experience with monitoring/observability tools such as CloudWatch or DatadogAbility to produce clear technical documentation and participate in design discussionsStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teamsComfort working in Agile environments with iterative delivery and shared ownershipAbility to bring clarity to complex situations and drive work forward with teammatesFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and container orchestration systems (ECS/EKS preferred)Company OverviewBest Egg is a consumer financial technology platform that aims to help people feel more confident about their everyday finances through a suite of products and resources.
