[Remote] Lead Mechanical Engineer, Methods and Tooling
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for their Tooling team within the Engineering department. The role involves defining methods for handling, transport, and support of turbine and generator components for hydropower projects, as well as performing design and calculation notes for tooling.ResponsibilitiesFor a given project in execution, collecting the information from site / Project Engineering Manager / logistics / Center of excellence to prepare the synopsis (sequence of installation/maintenance) and lashing (transport) drawingsImagining the erection and maintenance operation according to the procedure (done by site team) with the objective to use as much as possible standard tools and according to the EHS rulesPerform the calculation and the design of the tools according to the CoE’s Design Practices and with the validation of the tooling principal engineerRepresent the Tooling Center of Excellence (CoE) in front of the Project Team: System Integrator, CoE main project engineers, Supply Chain and Construction & CommissioningCoordinate within the Tooling CoE the calculation and design of the full list of tools identified during synopsis phase (detailed transportation & erection sequence of the power plant) – fulfilling planning, cost and safety requirementDesigning specific tools (3D, calculation note, fabrication drawings, instruction manuals)Identifying the need of access on our machineIdentifying the need of specific packing and specifying itPreparing the lifting drawingStamp the tooling design whenever needed for our North American project (US stamp mandatory)Pushing the synopsis BOM in the GE product life management systemParticipating when required to the design of the tool or of the piece itself, in order to make implemented the tooling requirementBeing the entry point for site team for any request of supportCoordinating the synopsis task with sub-contractor or technicianIdentifying on market standard toolsSkillsBachelor degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experienceSignificant experience (>5 years) in mechanical design - US stamp MandatoryExperience in design of lifting equipment and access platform or significant experience on siteGood knowledge of CAD and calculationExcellent written & verbal English skills for international communicationsProven ability to work with cross-functional and global teamsStrong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energyKnowledge of Hydropower Plant productsExperience on project managementTeam-player: positive & engaged contributor to the team, willingness to learn & adapt to business needs; be resilientBenefitsBonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; access to Health Coach from GE Vernova, a 24/7 nurse-based resource; and access to the Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services.Retirement benefits include the GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan, a tax-advantaged 401(k) savings opportunity with company matching contributions and company retirement contributions, as well as access to Fidelity resources and financial planning consultants.Other benefits include tuition assistance, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability benefits, life insurance, 12 paid holidays, and permissive time off.Company OverviewGE Vernova provides energy consulting, gas power, and grid solutions.
