[Remote] Lead Generation Mechanical Engineer

WSP USA is a leading engineering and professional services firm, and they are seeking a Lead Generation Mechanical Engineer to join their Federal Power and Energy Team. This role involves providing lead electrical engineering support on campus generation design projects and managing project execution while mentoring junior staff.ResponsibilitiesLead the design of mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilitiesPerform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, pipe support design, pipeline lists, valve lists, etcPrepare plant layout drawingsPerform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selectionDevelop PFD’s and P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, cooling water, water treatment, fuel gas, diesel fuel, and utilitiesPrepare sizing calculations, specifications, data sheets, RFQ’s, and technical bid evaluations for mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, reciprocating engines, gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, auxiliary boilers, tanks, pumps, etcEvaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projectsReview mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data. Interface and effectively communicate with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designersPrepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systemsWork individually or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, scientific, and construction professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects; assist with installation layouts, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with owner project requirements, specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memosEnsuring project work conforms with the contract, project scope, specifications, permits, compliance documentation, and regulatory requirementsPreparation of engineering budgets, schedules, and bill of quantities for material, equipment, and laborPreparation of proposals for obtaining new workMaintain quality control standards and procedures for ensuring quality, accurate deliverablesAnalyze, evaluate, and interpret data obtained during field investigationsComply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retentionRemain current in latest mechanical engineering techniques and practicesExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsDevelop plans, specifications, and cost estimates;
