[Remote] Lead Fire Protection Engineer - Fire Alarm Design

They are seeking a highly motivated Fire Alarm Consultant to design, evaluate, and consult on fire alarm systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform fire alarm and mass notification system consulting and design, including system layout, equipment, device and appliance placement, riser diagrams, sequence of operations, battery and voltage drop calculations, and creation of project specificationsCreate fire alarm shop drawings and review shop drawing submittal packages produced by installation contractorsConduct site assessments and field surveys to evaluate existing fire alarm installationsReview and interpret architectural and engineering drawings for code compliancePrepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications in accordance with project requirementsConduct testing and commissioning activities including developing test plans, witnessing testing and providing test reportsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, architects, and AHJsProvide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and assist with NICET training as neededMaintain current knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., NFPA 72, NFPA 70, IBC) and emerging technologiesInterface with clients to communicate findings, recommendations, and ensure satisfactionSkillsNICET Level III or IV certification in Fire Alarm Systems is requiredMinimum 5-10 years of experience in fire alarm consulting, design, or inspectionStrong understanding of fire protection engineering principles and life safety codesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software preferredBachelor's degree in engineering, fire protection, or a related field preferred but not required with commensurate experienceCompany OverviewJensen Hughes is a life safety engineering and consulting service for the government, healthcare, science and technology.
