[Remote] Lead Applied LLM / Generative AI Software Engineer - Profitable Health Tech Startup

Skyrocket Ventures is a recruiting firm for high growth technology companies, and they are seeking a Lead Applied LLM / Generative AI Software Engineer for a profitable health tech startup. The role involves individual contributorship transitioning to people management, focusing on building and deploying AI agents for healthcare applications and owning the architecture of backend systems. Responsibilities • Initially 100% individual contributorship, then ramping up to 50% of time on people management within 3-6 months • Building and deploying voice-based AI agents using LLMs for real-world tasks (e.g., recommendations, file handling, autonomous workflows) • Owning the end-to-end architecture across backend systems and AI pipelines • Designing and refining prompts for production-level LLM applications • Contributing to backend services and infrastructure (APIs, databases, job queues, etc.) • Solving open-ended problems independently and moving fast in a startup environment Skills • At least 4 years (the more the better) of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years working with AI/LLMs in production • BS/MS in Computer Science or similar • Strong Python skills • Experience designing backend systems at scale (APIs, databases, cloud infra) • Comfortable building AI agents that can plan and act autonomously • Engineering mindset: gets things done, production-focused, handles ambiguity well • Agentic AI experience (e.g., multi-step planning agents, memory, tool use) • Langfuse • Startup experience • Node.js familiarity • Voice AI or intelligent assistant experience • You've worked on something real: shipped a live product, ideally one users can talk to Benefits • Annual bonuses • Equity which could be valuable • Opportunities for frequent raises • Performance reviews every 6 months Company Overview • Skyrocket Ventures is a recruiting firm for high growth technology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
