[Remote] Lead AI/ML Software Engineer - Remote

The Lead AI/ML Software Engineer will own the delivery of machine learning insights, manage scalable systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement AI innovations in real-world products.ResponsibilitiesOwn the inference and delivery of machine learning insights to multiple customersManage, monitor, and scale machine learning systems, delivering insights to multiple customersPartner with cross-functional engineering teams to implement scalable, flexible pipelines that bring AI innovations into real-world productsWork with large-scale data and distributed computing frameworks to process and analyze high-volume healthcare datasets efficientlyDrive pipeline efficiency and reliability through profiling, refactoring and advanced engineeringDevelop new data pipelines to improve ML model usageSkillsBachelor of Science in computer science or related quantitative field7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years building and operating production ML systemsExpert-level Python experience, including writing production-grade, testable, and maintainable codeHands-on experience building and deploying APIs using FastAPI (or similar Python web frameworks) in a production environmentSolid experience deploying, managing, and scaling services in Kubernetes, including: Containerization (Docker), Helm or equivalent deployment tooling, Resource tuning, autoscaling, and failure recoveryProven experience with MLOps practices, including: Model deployment and versioning, Monitoring model performance, drift, and system healthExperience with AzureML, DataBricks, and Azure KubernetesExperience with distributed computing approachesExpertise in ML Ops, for example, model monitoring, drift detection, and event-based model retrainingProven solid technical communication skillsProven ability and drive to learn independentlyProven problem-solving and analytical thinkingProven ability to explain technical decisions to stakeholdersAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyBenefitsA comprehensive benefits packageIncentive and recognition programsEquity stock purchase401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements)Company OverviewWe’re evolving health care so everyone can have the opportunity to live their healthiest life.
