[Remote] IP Patent Prosecution Counsel
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Elevate Legal Talent is working with a leading global transportation company to find an experienced IP Counsel for their bikeshare business. The role involves overseeing U.S. utility patent prosecution, managing outside counsel, and collaborating with technical teams to shape an innovative product roadmap through strategic IP guidance.
Responsibilities
• Oversee U.S. utility patent prosecution and manage outside counsel
• Review applications, Office Action responses, and claim strategies for alignment with overall IP objectives
• Participate in bi‑weekly prosecution meetings with outside counsel to track action items and deadlines
• Conduct quarterly check‑ins with engineering and product leaders to identify patentable innovations and stay aligned with ongoing development
• Lead invention‑harvesting sessions to surface new patent opportunities within the bikeshare product ecosystem
Skills
• Registered U.S. Patent Attorney with 5–7+ years of patent prosecution experience
• Strong track record managing outside counsel and evaluating prosecution strategy
• Technical degree (or equivalent technical experience) in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
• Experience identifying patentable subject matter and engaging with engineers/product teams
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly with both legal and non‑legal stakeholders
• Experience contributing to or managing an in‑house patent portfolio
• Exposure to mobility, hardware, micromobility, IoT, or mechanical systems
• Prior involvement in R&D programs or structured invention‑harvesting initiatives
• Ability to influence portfolio direction and contribute to high‑level IP strategy
