[Remote] Intern, Data Analytics-Mission Data & Grants
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Goodwill Industries International is offering a summer internship for Data Analytics starting in June 2026. The role focuses on supporting the Data Center of Excellence team through documentation of data processes, exploratory data analysis, and general research to support grant strategy and benchmarking.ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain clear, standardized documentation of data processes, metric calculations, and reporting logic across multiple grant programsConduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights beyond standard grant reporting, support data pipeline maintenance and Power BI dashboard updates, capture qualitative data from member organizations, and perform general research on industry benchmarks and peer organization practicesDraft and refine plain-language documentation of how metrics are calculated, data is cleaned, and reports are generated for grant programsDevelop step-by-step guides for updating and maintaining Power BI dashboards and grant reporting processesPerform exploratory analysis on grant data (e.g., credential and placement outcomes, wage trends, training impact) and prepare summary findings for the teamAssist with data quality checks, including identifying duplicates, missing values, and inconsistencies across datasetsSupport data pipeline tasks such as validating outputs, documenting code logic, and assisting with light cleanup of Python notebooksSynthesize qualitative feedback and patterns from member meetings, surveys, and program interactions into structured summariesConduct landscape research on how peer organizations handle subgrantee data reporting, metric definitions, and data collection practicesSupport preparation of materials for internal and external stakeholder meetings as neededSkillsStrong oral and written communication skills requiredExcellent time management and organization skillsDemonstrated use of Python or R for data analysis and visualization projectsStrong writing skills with an ability to translate technical processes into clear, accessible documentationComfort working with both quantitative and qualitative dataAttention to detail and a commitment to data quality and accuracyAcademic or professional experience completing data projects involving data processing, analysis, and visualizationExperience presenting technical subjects to non-technical audiencesSome familiarity with tools and software commonly used for data analysis and visualization, such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, R, or PythonExperience with technical or process documentation is a plusExposure to qualitative research methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, thematic analysis) is a plusFamiliarity with Power BI or Tableau preferredGraduate students studying data science, public policy, economics, social sciences, or other related fields are preferred, but undergraduate students in relevant fields with strong analytical skills are also consideredCompany OverviewGoodwill Industries is all about people working.
