[Remote] Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) Advisory Consultant

They are seeking an Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) Advisory Consultant to manage tax complexities for their Merchant of Record product and ensure compliance with global tax regulations as they expand into new markets.ResponsibilitiesBe an indirect tax subject matter expert (global VAT/GST) for our Merchant of Record product, specifically managing the complexity of shifting tax liability via marketplace and agency rulesSupport Stripe’s expansion into new international markets, ensuring SMP remains compliant with varying global tax regulationsParticipate in policy matters affecting indirect taxes internationallyCollaborate with the international indirect tax compliance team, and the international accounting teams on VAT/GST compliance, assisting with the ongoing enhancement of the indirect tax compliance processesSupporting management of indirect tax audits and other indirect tax matters involving tax authorities internationallyWork with other tax team members and product and engineering teams to help define requirements and collaborate on the design and build of tax solutions for the MoR productPromote indirect tax awareness and knowledge including training and liaising with business and tax partners on changes to indirect tax legislation, systems, policies and processesSkills4-6 years of relevant indirect tax knowledge, laws and regulationsBachelor's degree and professional qualification in tax or lawPrevious in-house experience within a multinational business and either legal or accountancy firm experienceExperience with indirect taxes as it relates to the distribution of digital servicesProven experience navigating the complexities of VAT/GST for a digital service provider acting as a Marketplace/Merchant of RecordAccounting experience and proficiency with ERP systems and related data analytics skillsAbility to clearly and concisely interface with all levels of managementExcellent written and oral communication skillsProject management experience, detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projectsAbility to extract, analyze, and review data and make appropriate recommendationsAbility to work in a fast paced, informal, and often ambiguous environmentWillingness to learn and ability to quickly acquire knowledgeExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work autonomously or within a teamAn advanced degreeExperience working in technology, payments, or financial servicesExperience working in a high-growth, rapidly scaling environmentA willingness to work with a diverse crew of tax nerds who care deeply about Stripe's tax issues and each otherCompany OverviewStripe is a financial technology company that provides online payment processing and payment infrastructure for businesses.
