[Remote] Import Compliance & Customs Operations Specialist, US

They are seeking an experienced import compliance and customs operations professional to lead and support import compliance initiatives, oversee broker performance, and manage systems that strengthen regulatory oversight and compliance responsiveness.ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee customs brokerage activities and broker relationships related to import operationsServe as a subject matter expert on CBP Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), with emphasis on leveraging system functionality to improve operational tracking, entry accuracy, and other operational necessitiesDevelop metrics for compliance scores for brokers, merchants, and other related partiesDevelop, enhance, and manage compliance systems that:—— Track and aggregate regulatory contacts and communications—— Monitor internal compliance and operational SLA response times—— Conduct trend analysis and reporting—— Support escalation management and audit readinessCoordinate or lead outreach and communications with regulatory agencies and external stakeholdersMonitor statutory and regulatory developments impacting import operations and proactively identify emerging compliance requirementsTrack pending legal and regulatory changes and assess operational impactPartner cross-functionally with legal, operations, logistics, and compliance teams to strengthen import controls and procedures, including developing policy playbooks, standard operating procedures, and other related strategy documentsSupport internal audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiativesAssist in developing policies, procedures, and training related to import compliance and customs operationsSkills5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or trade compliance operationsStrong working knowledge of CBP regulations and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)Direct experience with air transportation import processes and customs entry proceduresExperience designing, implementing, or managing compliance tracking and reporting systemsDemonstrated ability to analyze regulatory trends, monitor performance metrics, and improve compliance workflowsKnowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs valuation, classification, and broker management practicesStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced regulatory environmentLicensed U.S. Customs Broker preferredJ.D. and legal experienceExperience engaging directly with regulatory agencies or leading regulator communicationsBackground in compliance operations, governance, risk management, or legal/regulatory affairsExperience supporting enterprise-level import compliance programsBenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance CoveragePaid Time Off (PTO)Paid Sick Leave (in accordance with applicable state and local laws)401(k) PlanCompany OverviewTemu is an e-commerce company that connects consumers with millions of merchandise partners, manufacturers and brands with the mission to empower them to live a better life.
