[Remote] Human Resources Director

TrueLearn is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead and scale the company's people function during its next phase of growth. This role will serve as the senior HR leader responsible for building the people infrastructure, talent strategy, and organizational capabilities needed to support a rapidly evolving business.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a people strategy aligned with TrueLearn's business objectives, culture, and growth plansServe as a trusted advisor to the CFO, CEO, Chief Product Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, and leadership team on organizational design, talent strategy, workforce planning, and employee engagementBuild and scale HR programs, processes, and infrastructure to support organizational growth, operational excellence, and a high-performing remote workforceDevelop and implement recruiting strategies that attract high-caliber talent across functional areasPartner with hiring managers to define talent requirements, assess candidates, and improve hiring outcomesLeverage data and market insights to support workforce planning and future talent needsEnhance the overall candidate and hiring manager experience throughout the recruiting lifecycleDesign and implement a comprehensive onboarding program that enables new employees to integrate quickly and effectively into the organizationDevelop career frameworks and job families that support employee development, internal mobility, and organizational growthCreate and manage a structured annual performance review process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback practices, and development planningPartner with leaders to identify high-potential employees and support succession planning initiativesLead employee engagement efforts, including employee surveys, action planning, recognition programs, and retention initiativesDevelop and maintain compensation structures, salary bands, and job architecture that support internal equity and market competitivenessOversee benefits strategy and administration, ensuring programs remain competitive and aligned with employee needsManage and optimize the company's HRIS platform (Paylocity), ensuring data integrity, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencyOversee payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance activities through partnership with the Business Office Manager and external vendorsUtilize HR metrics and analytics to inform leadership decisions and workforce planningProvide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, performance management, and conflict resolutionEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly within a multi-state remote workforce environmentPartner with legal counsel and external advisors as needed on employment-related mattersSkillsBachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field8+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience leading multiple HR functions. Proven experience building and scaling HR programs, processes, and infrastructure in a growing organizationStrong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and HR complianceExperience leading talent acquisition, workforce planning, and employee development initiativesExperience developing job architecture, career frameworks, and compensation programs, including salary bandingProficiency with HRIS platforms; Paylocity experience preferredStrong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with executives and managers at all levelsSuccess supporting remote or distributed workforcesBackground in a high-growth, technology-enabled, or private equity-backed environmentCompany OverviewTrueLearn is a test simulation and preparation tool using SmartBanks and robust analytics to help medical students study smarter for exams.
