As an HR Operations Intern, you will support the HR Manager in onboarding, compliance, and employee experience, gaining hands-on experience in a high-growth environment.ResponsibilitiesHelp track new hire onboarding progress and flag anything that needs attention before a start dateCoordinate equipment ordering and follow up on delivery status for incoming employeesMonitor completion of required new hire training and send reminders as neededTrack new hire survey responses and update internal recordsSupport weekly preparation of new hire content for our company All-Hands meetingAssist with routine compliance audits, including work authorization document reviewsHelp track and update employee data across HR systems to keep records accurateSupport biweekly reviews of outstanding employee documents pending signatureResearch state-specific HR requirements as we hire in new locationsHelp maintain internal HR documentation and process guidesFollow up with new hires who haven't completed benefits enrollment and connect them with resourcesAssist with monthly benefits invoice reconciliation — pulling headcount reports and cross-checking enrollmentsSupport payroll-adjacent processes including preparing employee roster updates and census filesHelp process leave pay documentation under HR Manager guidanceMaintain and update employee records and internal HR trackersHelp prepare weekly and monthly reports used for payroll, benefits, and complianceKeep internal HR documentation organized and currentSkillsBased in Chicago or the MidwestBackground or genuine interest in Human Resources, People Operations, or a related field — currently enrolled in a degree program, recently graduated, or career-switching welcomeHighly organized with strong attention to detail — you notice when something's off and follow through to fix itComfortable juggling multiple tasks and systems at once; quick to learn new toolsDiscreet and trustworthy — you'll handle confidential employee information and take that seriouslySelf-starter who can own recurring tasks independently and proactively flag issuesStrong written communication skillsPrior experience with HR systems, spreadsheets, or office administration is a plus but not requiredBenefitsPaid internshipHYBRID work modelLocation Chicago, IL (hybrid preferred) or remoteDuration 10–16 weeks, flexible based on academic scheduleCommitment 20–40 hours per weekCompany OverviewAugment is the AI productivity platform for supply chain.
