The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is a non-profit Tribal health organization that aims to meet the health needs of Alaska Native and American Indian people. The Grant Writer II will develop grant proposals and manage pre-award activities to secure funding for health projects benefitting these communities.ResponsibilitiesResearches local, State and Federal funding sources, foundations, and corporations, and identifies appropriate funding strategies for projects and initiativesUtilizes knowledge of ANTHC priorities and funding needs to connect viable funding opportunities with projects across campusConducts research to provide supporting documentation to proposals in compliance with funder requirementsCoordinates with grant team members to collect data, community statistics, graphs, maps, articles and related information for analysis in preparation for grant proposal developmentEstablishes and maintains collaborative relationships with staff across the organization to stay informed about ANTHC initiatives, priorities, projects and current funding needsServes as the primary point of contact for ANTHC program staffManages a portfolio of grant proposal projects, coordinating completion of multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate submissionsOrganizes and conducts meetings with program staff to develop the proposal, budget and other documents required by the funderProvides subject matter expertise on funders, forms, databases, financial allowances, Code of Federal Regulations, policies and proceduresEdits proposal narratives and accompanying documents to ensure the proposal is technically responsive to the grant opportunity. May write narrative for grant proposals based on ANTHC needConducts risk assessments and provides recommendations for mitigating risk in collaboration with other departmentsCreates project budgets that accurately represent project costs and are in alignment with allowable costs in accordance with funder requirements and the Code of Federal RegulationsNavigates complex federal and state databases to ensure submission of proposalsSupports Directors, Program Managers and accountants in routine grant management activitiesPerforms other duties as assigned or requiredSkillsKnowledge of Alaska Native culture and the Alaska Tribal Health SystemKnowledge of standard regulations and principles of grant programsKnowledge of business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuationKnowledge of standard budgeting and Excel program useKnowledge of customer services concepts and practicesKnowledge of grant funding processes and regulationsSkill in developing grant proposalsSkill in project and time managementSkill in researching and interpreting grant solicitationsSkill in developing and administering project timelinesSkill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlinesSkill in self-educationSkill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with othersSkill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applicationsSkill in working independentlyKnowledge of 2 CFR Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, and principles of grant programsSkill in leading professional work groups and mentoring employeesA Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, public health or a related fieldNon-supervisory - Four (4) years of successful grant writing/proposal development for federal or state funders, and/or private foundationsExperience in the Alaska Tribal Health SystemBenefitsMedical Insurance provided through the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program as a Tribal Employee, with over 20 plans and tiers.Cost-Share Dental and Vision InsurancesDiscounted Pet InsuranceRetirement Contributions with Pre-Tax or Roth options into a 403(b).401(a) ANTHC Retirement Plan: After one year of employment, ANTHC will begin making matching contributions of up to 5% of your eligible pay, based on your own contributions.
