[Remote] Fund Administrator / Fund Accountant

Red Cedar Advisory Services is seeking a detail-oriented and systems-driven Fund Administrator / Fund Accountant to support private equity and real estate investment clients. The role involves fund accounting, investor operations, and platform execution with a focus on accuracy and high-quality communication. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills to manage investor platforms and produce client-ready work with minimal revision.ResponsibilitiesExecute workflows within InvestNext and/or AppFolio Investment Manager (AIM), including:Setting up subscription documents for eSignatureCreating and managing capital raisesDrafting and processing capital calls and distribution plansPreparing and auditing investor distributionsTroubleshoot discrepancies between platform activity and underlying accounting recordsMaintain organized and accurate investor records and transaction historiesRecord and reconcile fund-level transactions in QuickBooks Online or equivalent systems, including:Investor capital contributions and redemptionsInvestments into underlying dealsCash inflows from investments (interest, distributions, returns of capital)Fund-level operating expensesPerform account reconciliations and tie-outs to supporting schedules and investor reportingInterpret operating agreements to understand distribution structures (preferred return, catch-up, promote, etc.)Draft distribution models within InvestNext and/or AppFolio Investment Manager based on waterfall termsBuild and maintain Excel-based audit models to validate platform-generated calculationsCollaborate with the U.S. team for review, refinement, and final approvalDraft client communications, summaries, and explanations for internal reviewPrepare clear, organized documentation of workflows, assumptions, and outputsCommunicate effectively with U.S.-based team members via Slack, email, Loom, and virtual meetingsSkills2–5+ years of experience in fund accounting, syndication accounting, private equity accounting, or real estate accountingHands-on experience with one or more investor management platforms: InvestNext, AppFolio Investment Manager (AIM), Juniper Square, Agora, IMS, Cash Flow PortalExperience using QuickBooks Online or similar general ledger systemsStrong understanding of: Capital contributions and distributions, Single-asset syndications and multi-asset fund structures, Preferred returns and waterfall conceptsIntermediate to advanced Excel skills, including building audit models and reconciling outputsExceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracyStrong written English communication skills with the ability to produce client-ready workPrivate placement real estate fundsReal estate syndicationsReal estate sponsors and capital raisersFamily officesBoutique fund administration firmsReal estate investment management firmsInvestor onboardingSubscription processingCapital raisesCapital callsInvestor distributionsPreferred return calculationsWaterfall calculationsInvestor reportingCompany OverviewRed Cedar is a tech enabled advisory services firm, with a focus on accounting, information systems, human resources and operations.
