[Remote] Front-End UI/UX Engineer (Ground Software)

Relative Dynamics is a subcontractor supporting Commercial Space contracts, aiming to define the new space era through innovative engineering and technology development. As a Front-End UI/UX Engineer, you will build mission-operations interfaces for spacecraft and launch vehicles, focusing on user experience and collaboration with operators and engineers.ResponsibilitiesDevelop modern, responsive, and polished mission-operations UIs using React, Redux, TypeScript, and related technologiesTranslate operator workflows and abstract requirements into user flows, wireframes, and intuitive UI behaviorsCollaborate with mission operators, GNC/FSW engineers, and systems engineers to understand operational use cases and constraintsImplement interfaces for telemetry visualization, command authoring, system health monitoring, timelines, alerts, and real-time data displaysEnsure that UI components are reusable, maintainable, well-tested, and optimized for real-time or high-volume dataRefine the visual and interaction design of critical workflows-even in the absence of a formal design systemConduct lightweight user testing and incorporate operator feedback into UI and workflow improvementsWork closely with backend and DevOps teams to integrate with APIs, WebSockets, and streaming data sourcesParticipate in code reviews, front-end architecture discussions, and continuous improvement of UI development practicesSkillsBS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related technical field5+ years of professional experience developing front-end web applicationsStrong proficiency in React, Redux (or other state management), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3Ability to design UI workflows and produce wireframes or prototypes when neededExperience building user interfaces for complex, data-dense, or real-time systemsDemonstrated understanding of interaction design principles and how they influence implementation choicesExperience collaborating directly with users or operators to gather feedback and refine UI behaviorFamiliarity with front-end testing, performance optimization, and modern build toolchainsExcellent communication skills and ability to operate in a cross-disciplinary environmentMS in Computer Science, HCI, Design Engineering, or related fieldExperience designing or implementing operational interfaces for aerospace, robotics, industrial systems, or other safety-critical domainsKnowledge of real-time visualization libraries or telemetry display patternsExperience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or real-time streaming frameworksExposure to usability testing methods and heuristicsComfort with light visual design work in tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XDPrior experience building tools for mission operations or control centersBenefitsCompetitive wage and benefits packageMedical, dental, vision and life/disability insuranceVacation and paid holidaysTuition reimbursementGreat 401k with company matchEmployee referral programCommunity involvement investing and giving back to the communityCompany OverviewDice is the go-to career marketplace for tech professionals.
