[Remote] Fractional Controller & FP&A Lead

Urrly is a growing, services-based recruiting firm seeking a Fractional Controller to design and oversee financial reporting, profitability analysis, and forecasting. This role focuses on financial structure, insight, and decision support, ensuring accurate and actionable financial data for the business.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Design a GAAP-compliant chart of accounts aligned to how the business actually operates
ā¢ Define accounting structure for profitability by search, client, and recruiter
ā¢ Establish cost allocation logic for recruiter compensation, overhead, and shared expenses
ā¢ Define monthly close process and reporting cadence in partnership with the bookkeeper
ā¢ Build core financial models, including:
ā¢ Search and client-level profitability
ā¢ Recruiter productivity and margin analysis
ā¢ Cash flow forecasting
ā¢ Hiring and headcount impact scenarios
ā¢ Review monthly close prepared by the bookkeeping firm
ā¢ Deliver management reporting with clear insights, not just financial statements
ā¢ Maintain and update forecasts and scenario models
ā¢ Act as a finance thought partner for hiring, growth, and cash decisions
ā¢ Ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting periods
Skills
ā¢ Prior experience as a Controller, Senior Controller, or Finance Lead
ā¢ Strong GAAP and accrual accounting foundation
ā¢ Demonstrated FP&A experience, including forecasting, scenario modeling, and variance analysis
ā¢ Experience supporting professional services, recruiting, or project-based businesses
ā¢ Proven ability to build and maintain: Profitability models by client, project, or service line
ā¢ Cash flow and hiring forecasts used for real decisions
ā¢ Comfort working with QuickBooks or Xero data
ā¢ Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable guidance for operators
ā¢ CPA license
ā¢ Prior fractional or startup experience
ā¢ Experience partnering with external bookkeeping firms
ā¢ Background supporting founder-led or growth-stage companies
