[Remote] Financial Controller

Vaco by Highspring is a rapidly growing international professional services organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations function. This role involves overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and providing leadership to a dispersed accounting team while supporting strategic growth initiatives.ResponsibilitiesOversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger activitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals across multiple locationsEnsure timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesMonitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics to support organizational performance and liquidityPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reportsAnalyze financial results and provide meaningful insights to leadershipEnsure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policiesPartner with finance leadership to support annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processesAssist in developing financial plans that align with organizational objectives and growth initiativesMonitor performance against budget and identify areas of risk or opportunityEstablish, maintain, and continuously improve internal control processesEnsure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect company assets and financial dataCoordinate internal and external audits and address any findings or recommendationsCollaborate with external advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax requirementsSupport tax filings, audits, and regulatory examinations as neededPartner with executive leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that support business growthEvaluate existing financial processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvementsSupport system implementations and enhancements when applicableIdentify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategiesAssist in maintaining insurance programs and risk management initiativesDevelop and maintain policies and procedures that support sound financial governanceSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA or equivalent professional certification neededMinimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership roleDemonstrated success leading and developing accounting teamsExperience managing multi-entity and international accounting environments, including foreign currency considerationsStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controlsExperience working with ERP systems and financial reporting toolsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organizationPrior experience within a professional services, consulting, or project-based business environment preferredBenefitsDiscretionary bonusesParticipation in medical, dental, and vision benefitsCompany's retirement plan (or similar retirement benefits)Company OverviewVaco is the Talent Solutions division of Highspring, a leading global professional services organization.
