[Remote] Financial Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Financial Analyst I to join the Contracts and Finance department. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to ensure proper stewardship of financial resources, while also serving as a primary contact for departmental leadership on finance-related matters.ResponsibilitiesUses statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other methods to analyze information and develop solutions to business problemsParticipates in development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets, and disseminates updates and results to leadership when appropriateParticipates in the development and implementation of financial processes throughout the department; including the development and provision of training and instructions, timelines, reports, and recommendations for improvementPrepares reports, spreadsheets, and schedules with compiled financial dataProcesses general ledger entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Performs general ledger reconciliations and complex general ledger account analysisSkillsAt least 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, including experience in data gathering, financial modeling, and forecastingStrong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new financial systems and toolsStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data and develop reportsExcellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholdersDetail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial analysis and reportingStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectivelyExperience working effectively with cross-functional teamsBachelors Degree RequiredExperience in higher education, government, or complex organizational finance environmentsExperience working with financial planning and analysis software (preferably, Planful or similar tools), and ERP systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, or similar platformsBenefitsComprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fundRemote work is an option for this position on a voluntary basisA Dell PC laptop will be issued for use in this roleCompany OverviewUW School of Medicine and Public Health offers graduate programs, health professions programs, and innovative research.
