Remote Family Law Paralegal
Job Overview
We are seeking a certified Family Law Paralegal with minimum of 3 years of direct experience in family law to join our legal team. This role is instrumental in supporting all stages of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and related matters. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fully electronic environment. Final compensation will be based on experience and skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft and prepare legal documents such as petitions, motions, settlement agreements, and final judgments.
• Draft and manage financial affidavits, mandatory disclosure, equitable distribution worksheets, and child support guidelines.
• Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date with family law statutes and court rules.
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting requests/responses and organizing documentation.
• Maintain and organize fully electronic case files using legal document management systems.
• Perform accurate and timely data entry to ensure case records are current.
• Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant facts and documentation.
• Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with formatting standards.
• Manage scheduling of hearings, mediations, and other court-related events.
• Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other parties to facilitate case progression.
• E-file documents with state and local courts.
• Monitor case deadlines and update task management systems accordingly.
• Enter and track billable time and expenses for client invoicing.
Required Qualifications
• Certified Paralegal (Certification required).
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in family law (divorce, custody, support—no adoption cases).
• Proficiency in preparing complex legal documents and pleadings related to family law.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Family Law Software, Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Familiarity with litigation procedures related to family law matters such as custody disputes, divorce proceedings, spousal support, and child welfare cases.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a remote team setting.
• Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
• Experience with e-filing and electronic document systems (all case files are digital).
• Effective and professional interpersonal skills for client and court communications.
• Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw).
Preferred Skills
• Legal drafting and litigation support
• Discovery preparation and management
• Familiarity with child support guidelines and financial disclosures
• Experience in fully paperless law firms
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in billing and record-keeping

• Office hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (May close early on Fridays)
