[Remote] Fall 2026 Legal Intern, Immigrants' Rights Project- San Francisco
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The ACLU is seeking a Legal Intern for its Immigrants' Rights Project, which is part of the national office. This internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in impact litigation and legal advocacy on immigrants' rights issues by working closely with attorneys in developing and litigating cases across various jurisdictions.ResponsibilitiesDrafting memoranda, affidavits, and briefsConducting legal and policy researchResearching prospects for new litigation, including both factual and legal claimsResearching and drafting materials for public educationLegislative bill tracking and analysisCenter principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processesSkillsCurrently be matriculated legal studentsMust be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internshipStudents enrolled at U.S. law schools who will have completed at least one year of law school before the internship commencesDescribe their interest in immigrants' rights and civil liberties in their cover letterSpecify desired office location (New York or San Francisco) in the cover letterExcellent research skills, including conducting internet and legal database researchExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writingAttention to detail, excellent organizing and time-management skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteThe initiative to see projects through to completionA commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justiceCompany OverviewThe ACLU is an non-profit, non-partisan organization of people who believe in the power of action.
