[Remote] Engineering Manager

Hernon is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Equipment Engineering function responsible for designing, developing, and supporting automated equipment and machinery for various industrial markets. The role involves ensuring engineering execution, technical quality, project delivery, and team performance while managing resources and compliance with regulatory standards.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the Equipment Engineering team across all phases of product development, including concept, design, validation, release, and lifecycle supportProvide technical leadership and oversight for mechanical and electrical / controls engineering disciplinesEnsure engineering designs meet customer specifications, applicable codes and standards, safety requirements, and internal quality standardsPlan and allocate engineering resources to support active projects, development initiatives, and customer commitmentsDrive effective project execution by coordinating schedules, priorities, risks, and technical decisionsInterface closely with Sales, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Suppliers, and Service to ensure alignment from quotation through delivery and supportSupport customer technical reviews, design reviews, FAT preparation, and technical discussions as requiredIdentify opportunities to improve design efficiency, standardization, modularity, reliability, and costPromote sound engineering practices, documentation standards, and configuration controlSecure and justify engineering-related capital investments, software, tools, and training required for team effectivenessDevelop and manage engineering budgets related to labor, tools, and capital expendituresEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the engineering function, including schedule adherence, design quality, rework, and resource utilizationEnsure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements as they apply to engineering activitiesRecruit, develop, coach, and retain engineering talent in coordination with Human Resources and the General ManagerConduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and recommend compensation adjustments in line with company policiesDefine training needs and ensure technical and professional development of the engineering teamAuthorize departmental requisitions in accordance with company proceduresApprove routine engineering-related expenditures up to established authorization limitsCommunicate effectively across the organization regarding project status, risks, and technical issuesSkillsMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership or management roleBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be consideredStrong background in automated equipment, machinery design, and electromechanical systemsWorking knowledge of controls systems, automation architectures, and industrial standardsProven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong project management, organizational, and communication skillsExperience working in a fast-paced, project-driven environmentWorking knowledge of CAD systems and engineering documentation practices, with the ability to review, assess, and approve designsSolid understanding of quality systems and design control principlesCompany OverviewHernon Manufacturing, Inc.® has been committed to delivering TOTAL SOLUTIONS including high-performance adhesives, sealants and coatings as well as precision dispensing equipment and UV curing systems for over four decades.
