[Remote] Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering delivery of the enterprise Login & Identity platform, managing two development teams and collaborating with the Product Manager to deliver secure, scalable authentication and identity solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and develop two Login & Identity engineering teamsDrive delivery of authentication, authorization, SSO, MFA, and identity lifecycle capabilitiesPartner with the Product Manager for Login & Identity to translate roadmap and business outcomes into executable delivery plansManage multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing feature delivery, platform stability, security, and technical debtEnsure solutions meet Symetra’s security, privacy, resiliency, and compliance standardsCollaborate with Security, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Business partners across SymetraCommunicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadershipSkillsHigh School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of direct experience managing people and teamsYou have a proven ability to lead multiple teams and manage concurrent initiatives in a fast-moving environmentYou hold deep expertise in identity and access management, including OAuth/OIDC, SAML, SSO, and MFA, and have direct experience with Customer Identity Access ManagementYou're experienced in delivering secure, highly available platforms across cloud or hybrid environmentsYou've worked in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries, bringing an understanding of the standards requiredYou're familiar with enterprise IAM platforms and how they support scalable identity ecosystemsYou naturally collaborate with Product, Business, and cross-functional partners, building strong relationships that drive outcomesSome minimal annual travel required (for people manager roles only)A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related fieldBenefitsFlexible full-time or hybrid telecommuting arrangementsPlan for your future with our 401(k) plan and take advantage of immediate vesting and company matching up to 6%Paid time away including vacation and sick time, flex days and ten paid holidaysGive back to your community and double your impact through our company matchingEligibility for the company annual bonus programAll newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year.
