The Electrical Engineer will design and deliver reliable, high-performance EV charging solutions, contribute to electrical system analysis, and collaborate with various teams to ensure efficient site design.ResponsibilitiesWork with the Development, Construction, Energy teams to implement electrical hardware and utility partner requirements closelyWork with Technology team to help determine hardware partners for Terawatt’s charging sitesExecute strategies for interoperability for our different EVSE partners and the vehicles that will use our charging infrastructureWork with Field Service to help resolve hardware and electrical-related problems for Terawatt's fleet customersWork on existing and upcoming standards engagements and complianceAssist Sr. team members identify new solutions to improve the efficiency of our sitesManage engineering outputs for multiple projects with competing deadlines and resourcesReport to management regularly on engineering progress and setbacksResearch, obtain, and apply critical design information including building and electrical code requirements to site designBe an advocate for the electrification of transport, and the Company’s role in making it happenSkillsBackground in electrical engineering, power electronics, or comparable practical experience4+ years experience in dense electrical infrastructure, such as: DC fast EV charging infrastructure, Clean energy electrification (BESS, solar, wind, geothermal, nuclear, etc.), Data center power distribution, Power grid development, Substations and Microgrids, Solid state power transformationDemonstrated initiative and a collaborative approach to solving complex challenges in an evolving industry with the ability to manage technical deliverables for multiple simultaneous projects, maintaining high quality under aggressive 'speed-to-market' timelinesProficiency in developing and reviewing Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) and Three-Line Diagrams using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar engineering softwareDeep familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes relevant to EV infrastructureDemonstrated experience managing utility interconnection applications and navigating the technical requirements of utility service providers2+ years experience in the EV ecosystem, vehicle electrification, EV charging infrastructure, or related fieldsHands-on experience in construction oversight, commissioning, or field engineering, specifically troubleshooting hardware to vehicle interoperabilityFamiliarity with understanding of dispatchable on-site power generation, solid state transformers, substation relay and control and other aspects of power distribution systemsUnderstanding of industry standards such as OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and ISO 15118 (Plug & Charge)Knowledge of construction and electrical safety practices and proceduresEIT (Engineer-in-Training) status or a Professional Engineer (PE) licenseCompany OverviewTerawatt provides convenient, reliable charging infrastructure that keeps your fleets running efficiently and turns your charging costs from a prohibitive capital expenditure into a manageable monthly operating expense.
