As an Early Career Trial Attorney, you will manage insurance defense litigation, provide counsel to business clients, and keep abreast of new laws and regulations to ensure effective legal strategies.ResponsibilitiesManage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clientsGather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositionsConduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reportsPrepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documentsInterview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication recordsAttend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine mattersMonitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing casesParticipate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal workSkillsJuris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Ohio State BarSuccessful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documentsDemonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlinesCapable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery processSkilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactionsWell-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conductEquipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussionsMust be commutable distance to courthouses throughout the greater Cleveland, OH, Northwest, OH, Northeast, OH, and Toledo, OHBenefitsExceptional Work-Life BalanceHolistic Understanding of the BusinessDirect Client CollaborationStrategic Influence and ImpactDiverse Legal ChallengesProfessional Growth OpportunitiesCompany OverviewAllstate is an insurance company that offers car, home, and life insurance services.
