[Remote] Director, Revenue Accounting

They are seeking a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead revenue recognition and patient accounting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and ASC 606 standards, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and overseeing internal controls.ResponsibilitiesEstablish, enforce, and continuously improve accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP for revenue recognition and patient accounting processesBuild and maintain allowance models segmented by payor class, aging, etc. Ensure models are reconciled to the financials monthlyBuild and maintain collection waterfall models that tracks charges>contractual adjustments>expected collections>write offs and perform variance analysis to reported financialsBuild dashboards and trend reporting to monitor and corroborate models and reported financials and identify changes proactivelyBuild and maintain models, analysis, and accuracy of other patient accounting processes such as product warranties, product guaranties, deposits, and healthcare financing feesLead and approve revenue and patient accounting mapping strategy between practice management systems, data warehouses, and the general ledger, ensuring alignment with business and reporting requirementsOversee and review the preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness on revenue/Net AR and other patient accounting processesReview and approve balance sheet and P&L reconciliations to financials monthlyDevelop and maintain proactive cross-functional partnerships with Revenue Cycle Management, IT/Product, and FP&A/Analytics leadership to define and drive revenue analytics, best practices, and system improvementsOversee the model, analysis, and accuracy of other patient accounting processes such as product warranties, product guaranties, deposits, and healthcare financing feesIllustrate models and accounting methods and present to the business as required (operations, doctors, etc.)Serve as a point of contact for external auditors, managing audit requests and ensuring the delivery of audit-ready documentationSkills7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3-4 years in a healthcare or dental revenue cycle environmentBachelor's degree in accounting or financeAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExperience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Looker, Tableau)Strong analytical and communication skillsExperience within the healthcare or dental industryExperience with fee schedules, UCR rates, and how contractual rates flow into contractual and discretionary adjustmentsExperience with practice management systems and revenue cycle management processesProficiency with tools such as SQL/databasesProven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, manage projects and competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environmentCPA certification strongly preferredPrior experience at a Big 4 or regional firm with healthcare clients is a differentiatorBenefitsBonus incentivesPaid time offHealthDentalVision401(k) savings plan with matchCompany OverviewAspen Dental is a provider of general dentistry services.
