[Remote] Director of Project Management-Utility-Scale Solar

They are seeking a Director of Project Management to lead the project management function, ensuring high-quality delivery and operational excellence across engineering design projects.ResponsibilitiesLead and scale the project management team supporting utility-scale solar and energy storage engineering projectsEstablish and enforce best practices for project delivery within an Engineering of Record environmentOversee portfolio-level performance including scope, schedule, budget, and resource planningDrive on-time, high-quality delivery of engineering milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC, Record Drawings, EOR Construction Support)Partner closely with engineering leadership (civil, electrical, structural, power systems) to ensure integrated design deliveryServe as executive-level point of contact for EPCs, developers, and ownersProvide leadership on complex project challenges, risk mitigation, and strategic decision-makingOversee RFI processes, submittals, design clarifications, and stakeholder communicationsLead change management across projects, including scope changes, fee negotiations, and schedule adjustmentsEnsure all work meets applicable codes, standards, and EOR obligationsBuild and track KPIs for project execution, team utilization, and client satisfactionMentor, coach, and develop project managers, creating clear career pathways and performance expectationsDrive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating lessons learned into standards, tools, and workflowsSupport business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and contract reviewsCollaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and operational scalingSkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (PE license/PMP strongly preferred)10+ years of experience in engineering project management, with significant experience in Engineering of Record (EOR) firmsProven experience managing and leading project managers and cross-functional engineering teamsDeep understanding of engineering design workflows, drawing packages, and EOR responsibilitiesDemonstrated success managing large, complex infrastructure or utility-scale solar projects (50MW+ preferred)Strong knowledge of civil, electrical, structural, and power systems engineering scopesExpertise in project controls, including scheduling, forecasting, financial management, and resource planningExperience interfacing with EPCs, developers, owners, and permitting authorities at a senior levelStrong commercial acumen, including experience with contracts, scopes of work, and fee negotiationsExceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive organizational alignmentPE license/PMP strongly preferredDemonstrated success managing large, complex infrastructure or utility-scale solar projects (50MW+ preferred)BenefitsThis role has a remote work arrangement.Competitive salary based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance (if applicable)Paid time off, company holidays, and professional growth opportunitiesSupportive culture committed to mentorship, innovation, and continuous improvementCompany OverviewCastillo Engineering offers utility and residential solar engineering services.
