[Remote] Director of Finance (Controller and FP&A)

The Director of Finance will lead strategic finance and accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and driving budgeting and forecasting to support business decisions.ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting; including management of junior resourcesOversee preparation of financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statementsEnsure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirementsManage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billingEstablish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure audit readinessLead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning processesDevelop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making and growth initiativesAnalyze financial performance, including revenue, margins, and cost drivers, and provide actionable insightsBuild and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools for executive leadershipPartner with department leaders to drive financial accountability and performance improvements, including performance of individual states/regions and client-level variationMonitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functionsSupport strategic initiatives including pricing, service line profitability, and market expansionAssist with M&A activities including financial analysis, due diligence, and integration planningOversee financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and process improvements to support scalabilityLead, develop, and manage finance and accounting team members, including outsourced vendors/partnersSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required10â15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, including both controllership and FP&A responsibilitiesExperience in professional services, multi-entity, or high-growth environments preferredDemonstrated experience leading financial operations and strategic finance initiativesAdvanced accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP complianceFinancial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and modelingFinancial systems and tools (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, BI/reporting platforms)Revenue recognition, internal controls, and audit processesPurposes, methods, and practices of financial and accounting record keepingBasic accrual accounting principles and proceduresMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skillsProper and effective use of English grammar and communication skillsAbility to effectively listen to and empathize with customersAlign with Charter Impact's mission, vision, and core valuesMaintain a collaborative team environmentAdapt quickly to changeTranslate financial data into actionable insightsWork independentlyPerform calculations accuratelyPrepare accurate financial reportsIdentify and correct errorsCPA preferredMBA preferredExperience in professional services, multi-entity, or high-growth environments preferredQuickBooks Online, QBAOSage Intacct or similar platformsPower BI or TableauADP, Paychex, or Intuit payroll systemsBenefitsRemoteâfirst flexibility: Work where you do your best work, with flexible, remote, and hybrid options depending on role.
