[Remote] Director of Accounting

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Accounting to lead their accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and provide strategic financial insights.ResponsibilitiesOversee and guide daily accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end and year-end close processesEnsure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant regulationsDevelop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient internal controlsPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholdersAnalyze financial data and provide insights to management on key performance indicators and trendsOversee the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant guidanceReview customer contracts and assess proper revenue recognition treatmentWork closely with sales and legal teams to address revenue recognition mattersOversee and manage the annual financial audit and income tax preparation processesOversee audit schedules and support internal auditsEnsure compliance with SOX requirementsCultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environmentEffectively delegate tasks and monitor team performanceMentor and develop the team, preparing them for future growth within the organizationIdentify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processesImplement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyStay abreast of best practices in accounting and technologyProactively seek out opportunities to improve and scale financial systems and processes in anticipation of future growth and the transition to the Controller roleSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related fieldCPA preferred10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership roleStrong technical accounting knowledgeGAAP expertiseIn-depth understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)Experience with NetSuite is requiredProven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organizationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProactive and solutions-oriented approachBenefitsOffers EquityRemoteCompany OverviewRescale is a cloud simulation platform that enables research scientists and engineers to build, compute, analyze, and scale simulations.
