LATICRETE International is a global leader in high-performance tile and stone installation systems, seeking a Director, Legal to serve as their sole in-house legal advisor. This role involves overseeing legal affairs, managing external counsel, and providing strategic legal guidance on corporate, regulatory, and operational matters while collaborating with senior leadership to support company growth and manage risk.ResponsibilitiesOversee corporate governance, including board meetings, shareholder communicationsManage legal matters associated with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic business transactionsAdvise on corporate structure and reorganizations as neededIn collaboration with the Enterprise risk and Audit director, ensure the company’s adherence to relevant local, state, and federal laws, as well as industry regulationsMonitor changes in laws and regulations that could impact the company and ensure compliance across all business unitsIdentify and mitigate potential legal risks affecting the businessManage all litigation, claims, investigations, and dispute resolution matters worldwideSelect, retain, and manage external counsel, controlling legal spend and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective representationDevelop litigation strategy, settlement approaches, and risk assessments in coordination with senior leadershipOversee insurance programs, claims management, and coverage matters in partnership with Finance and RiskDraft and review contracts and licenses with customers, suppliers, and business partnersAdvise HR and management on employment law matters, including employee relations, discipline, terminations, compensation, and benefitsSupport compliance with wage and hour laws, discrimination and harassment laws, immigration and workplace safety regulationsOversee protection, development, and enforcement of the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secretsSupport R&D, innovation, and product development initiatives with IP strategy and risk managementAdvise on technology agreements, data privacy, cybersecurity, AI usage, and digital transformation initiativesCoordinate global IP strategy with external counsel and international teamsSkillsJuris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law schoolBar membership in good standing10+ years of corporate legal experience, preferable with at least two years at a law firm and the majority as in-house experienceDemonstrated experience serving as a sole or lead in-house counsel in a global organization highly preferredBroad experience across corporate, commercial, regulatory, manufacturing, employment, IP, litigation and compliance lawStrong understanding of product liability, regulatory compliance, EHS and manufacturing risk profilesStrong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory complianceExperience working with employment law and partnering with Human ResourcesProven ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice to senior and mid-level managementDemonstrated ability to manage external legal counsel and legal budgets effectivelyExceptional judgment, discretion and ethical standardsAbility to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance for business leadersStrong executive presence with the ability to influence, advise and partner at the senior leadership and Board levelAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple prioritiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience in global manufacturing company selling through distribution is preferredExperience in chemical industry and/or building products is a plusInternational experience is also a plus, as well as previous experiences in acquiring and divesting companiesExperience managing mergers and acquisitions highly preferredExperience drafting and reviewing major and critical contracts including customer agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, licensing agreements and employment contractsBenefitsMedicalDentalVision401kTuition reimbursement13 paid holidays in addition to paid vacation and sick timeFlexible spendingLife Insurance, AD&D and Supplemental InsuranceCompany OverviewLaticrete International is a building materials supply company that offers self-leveling underlayment, concretes, and skim coat products.
