Evotec is a leading company in the Drug Discovery and Pre-Clinical Development services sector, seeking a Director of Business Development to drive new business growth and enhance existing client relationships. The role involves managing the full sales cycle, ensuring client satisfaction, and collaborating with various departments to deliver tailored solutions for pharmaceutical and biotech clients.ResponsibilitiesWork with the VP of Sales to drive the overall commercial strategy within the territoryEstablish Evotec as the partner of choice within the territoryMaintain high visibility in the territory, spending ~40-50% of time client facingFocus on new client acquisition, identifying new business opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical companiesManage the entire sales pipeline, including in territory prospecting, follow-up, client meetings, proposals, contract negotiation and closureMeet or exceed assigned sales targets and quarterly KPIsMaintain a robust and accurate pipeline within the CRM systemDevelop long-term relationships with key decision-makers in client organizationsConduct capability presentations, introductory calls/meetings, and needs-assessment meetingsServe as the primary point of contact during the pre-award phase and ensure a seamless hand-off to Project Management post-awardManage selected accounts to encourage repeat business and identify cross-sell or upsell opportunitiesMaintain awareness of CRO industry trends, competitive landscape, regulatory changes, and client R&D prioritiesRepresent the organization at trade shows, conferences, events, and client site visitsProvide market feedback to internal teams to support service/product development, commercial strategy, and pipeline planningSkillsBachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field5+ years of sales experience, ideally within a CRO, CDMO, biotech service provider, or pre-clinical research environmentProven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targetsBroad understanding of the discovery and pre-clinical development processExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skillsWillingness to travel extensively (40%+)Established network within the biotech and/or pharmaceutical sectorsExperience selling complex scientific or technical servicesBenefitsDiscretionary annual bonusComprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and VisionShort-term and long-term disabilityCompany paid basic life insurance401k company matchGenerous paid time off and paid holidayWellness and transportation benefitsCompany OverviewEvotec is a pharmaceutical and life science company that provides drug discovery and gene therapy solutions.
