They are seeking a Developer Advocate specializing in video content to create engaging educational materials that help developers understand Tailscale's functionality and its implications.ResponsibilitiesYou’ll be expected to own large chunks of the production lifecycle of our video output, from identifying which topics are worth a developer’s time to scripting, recording, editing, publishing, and measuring impactStrong judgment is essentialYou will know what deserves depth, what should be left out, and how to explain complex technical ideas without oversimplifying or skipping the hard partsThis role requires shipping consistently, with an expectation of producing high-quality videos on a regular, fast-paced cadenceThis is a hands-on, on-camera roleYou should be comfortable explaining nuanced technical concepts directly to developers, writing your own demos or examples where appropriate, and maintaining a calm, credible presence that builds trust over timeInitially, you’ll step into our established YouTube presence as part of our Developer Relations team, and over time, you’ll help refine and evolve Tailscale’s video strategy, formats, and voiceYou’ll also represent Tailscale publicly through conference talks and in-person events as a steward of the brandSupport DevRel during events, conferences, and community moments (up to 20% travel)As needed, help capture and amplify technical talks, live demos, and community interactionsSurface developer stories and use cases that illustrate how people use Tailscale in the real worldSkills1–3+ years experience creating technical, educational, or developer-focused content (video, talks, tutorials, or similar)Hands-on experience with video production tools and workflows (Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro, frame.io, etc.), including scripting or outlining, recording, and editing long-form contentStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and accuratelyComfort learning technical concepts related to developer tooling, infrastructure, or networking in order to create educational contentComfortable presenting on camera and explaining technical ideas to a developer audienceFamiliarity with video performance metrics (e.g., watch time, retention, engagement) and using feedback to iterate on contentAbility to manage multiple workstreams and meet regular publishing deadlinesCollaborative mindset, with experience working alongside engineers, product managers, or other technical stakeholdersWillingness to participate in public-facing work such as videos, talks, or occasional in-person eventsPrior experience in Developer Relations, technical education, or developer marketingBasic familiarity with programming or scripting (e.g., Go, JavaScript, Python) or a demonstrated willingness to learnExperience contributing to or maintaining a public content portfolio (YouTube channel, blog, talks, or similar)BenefitsComprehensive group benefits with no waiting period.Coverage for health, vision, dental, and more for you and your family!Support for your personal and professional development.$1500 USD annually for professional development.Paid time off and a healthy work-life integration.Flexible, paid time off program supports you for any situation life throws your way.A build-your-own home office setup.$1000 USD to customize your workstation to make it your own.Generous parental leave program from your first day.Parental leave top-ups for up to 26 weeks.Company OverviewTailscale is a software company that provides zero-configuration virtual private networks (VPNs) for secure connectivity.
