[Remote] Design Engineer, PV Systems - Remote, US

They are seeking a Design Engineer for PV Systems to efficiently execute drafting and analysis for utility and commercial scale PV design projects, collaborating with engineers and project stakeholders. Responsibilities Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution Receive direction as needed, and especially on difficult assignments and possible solutions Work is completed using standard engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships Participate in the design and development of electrical plan sets, including site layouts and equipment details Learn and enhance plan-set templates, standards, and best practices Draft equipment layouts, installation details, and single-line diagrams (PV, MV, Auxiliary Power, Monitoring, etc.) Coordinate with design engineers and collaborate with sub-consultants as needed Coordinate the design of interconnections with licensed Engineers Identify issues on projects and collaborate with the client, co-workers, and others to execute effective solutions Interact with team members, clients, vendors, installation contractors, and others to create efficient and cohesive designs Generate Single Line Diagrams under the supervision of Sr. Design Engineers Report the status of progress on each project to Senior Managers on a weekly or daily basis as needed Attend weekly management meetings Appropriately request technical support as needed on projects and keep on schedule Occasionally provide estimates of time to perform tasks Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and procedures Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and the client Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions Organize/prioritize multiple tasks to complete the design in a sequential efficient manner Complete electrical calculations under the supervision of Sr. Design engineers Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget Attend coordination and design meetings, as needed Address comments from clients, AHJ's & other review authorities; adjust designs accordingly under the supervision of Sr. Design Engineer If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, construction submittals) Work within established project budgets Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD software Skills Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline required at time of employment Entry level position, no prior experience required High proficiency in AutoCAD required Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Two or more (2+) years of relevant experience in the Solar PV industry NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional Experience with PV system modeling software such as PVsyst, Helioscope and/or Homer Ability to perform shading analyses Energy storage system design experience Benefits Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match Paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays Tuition reimbursement and professional development support Discretionary bonuses and other performance-based incentives Employee Assistance Program (EAP), wellness initiatives, and employee discounts Company Overview Bowman Consulting is a civil engineering company that provides engineering consulting services nationwide.
