Remote DE Underwriter (CHUMS required)
An established mortgage banker is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join its team.
We're looking for a collaborative underwriter who thrives on engaging with the origination team and is comfortable picking up the phone to ensure clear communication and accurate loan decisions.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations
ā¢ Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to determine eligibility
ā¢ Assess risk and provide thorough loan decisions with clear explanations and conditions
ā¢ Collaborate closely with processors, loan officers, and stakeholders to resolve questions and expedite the process
ā¢ Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and best practices
Qualifications
ā¢ Active DE is required; VA is a plus
ā¢ Must have underwritten frontline new purchase loans within the past 3 years
ā¢ Minimum 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
ā¢ Strong understanding of FHA, VA, Conventional, Non-QM, and Jumbo products
ā¢ Experience with Encompass strongly preferred
ā¢ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
ā¢ Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
ā¢ Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per year
Paid overtime, Monthly bonus up to $900/month
