[Remote] DCMA Security Management Technical Writer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Crest Security Assurance is seeking a Technical Writer to support a DoD cybersecurity program. The role involves reviewing, editing, and developing technical policies and directives to ensure compliance with DoD standards and best practices in cybersecurity.ResponsibilitiesReview, edit, and assist in developing cybersecurity and IT-related policies, procedures, directives, and guidance documents in compliance with DoD, DISA, and USAF standardsEnsure clarity, consistency, and conformance with DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, and other relevant cybersecurity policy frameworksApply plain language principles and DoD formatting standards to ensure policy readability and compliance with publishing requirementsCoordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs), Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), and Program Managers (PMs) to validate technical accuracy and policy alignmentCreate and refine infographics, visual summaries, flowcharts, and decision matrices to convey policy and procedural conceptsMaintain and update document templates, style guides, and terminology glossaries for policy and directive materialsSupport quality control, version tracking, and configuration management for governance documentationAssist in policy gap analysis and document crosswalks to ensure consistency with higher-level DoD directivesPrepare polished deliverables for internal and external reviewSkillsActive DoD Secret ClearanceMeets DoD 8570 IAT or IAM Level II baseline certification requirements with one or more of the following: CompTIA Security+ CE, CAP, GSLC, CISM, CISSP (Associate accepted)Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)Minimum 3–5 years of experience developing and editing technical policies, directives, or governance documents for federal or DoD organizationsProficiency with desktop publishing tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, Illustrator, or Microsoft Word with advanced styles and templatesExperience designing infographics and data visualizations to enhance comprehension of policy materialsStrong understanding of DoD documentation standards, policy lifecycle, and controlled document processesFamiliarity with DoD cybersecurity governance (DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, NIST SP 800-53)Experience supporting Information Assurance (IA) or Cybersecurity officesKnowledge of Records Management (RM) and Configuration Management (CM) practices for official DoD documentationExperience with SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence, or similar document collaboration environmentsAbility to communicate complex technical or policy concepts clearly to both technical and executive audiencesCompany OverviewCSA partners with clients to serve as a force multiplier in the cyber domain, supporting your mission with innovative solutions.
