Hood Container Corporation is a family-owned company specializing in containerboard and kraft paper, corrugated boxes, and contract packaging. They are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of enterprise databases, supporting mission-critical systems and ensuring reliable data operations across multiple locations.ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain SQL Server (or other DB platforms, e.g.,Oracle, MongoDB) environmentsMonitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizationsManage indexing, statistics, and configuration best practices based on the use case for each server and databaseAssist with query and execution plan tuningEnsure high availability through clustering, replication, and/or failover strategiesImplement and maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standardsEnsure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across systemsManage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning/testingSupport ERP systems such as Amtech EnCore and related modulesCollaborate with business units (Production, Inventory, Shipping, Finance) to support data needsTroubleshoot data issues impacting operations and reportingSupport integrations with external systems (e.g., EDI, APIs, ERPs)Assist in designing and maintaining data pipelines between internal and external systemsMonitor and troubleshoot data exchange processesWrite and maintain SQL jobs, stored procedures, functions, and triggersAutomate routine database tasks (maintenance jobs, monitoring alerts)Support reporting tools and data extraction for business intelligence (i.e SSRS, Power BI)Maintain database documentation, schemas, and standardsEstablish and enforce best practices for database usage and developmentParticipate in data governance and master data initiativesParticipate in regular reviews and audits for security and disaster recoverySkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of database administration experience in a production environmentExperience supporting ERP systems (manufacturing preferred)Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or similar RDBMS)Proficiency in T-SQL, performance tuning, and query optimizationExperience with backup/recovery models, HA/DR solutionsFamiliarity with APIs, EDI transactions, and system integrationsUnderstanding of data warehousing and reporting tools is a plusStrong problem-solving and analytical thinkingAbility to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersProactive mindset with focus on reliability and continuous improvementAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience in manufacturing or corrugated/packaging industryExposure to Amtech EnCore or similar ERP systemsExperience with RFID or real-time tracking systemsKnowledge of cloud database platforms (Azure, AWS)Experience with Git repositories and code archivesCompany OverviewWe are a national packaging solutions company with integrated mill-to-market capabilities.
