About the Role:
The Enterprise Data Strategy team at American Express is responsible for driving business growth and excellence in credit and fraud risk management. As a Remote Data Strategy Specialist, you will be part of the Risk Management team and will focus on developing and implementing data-driven strategies to drive business growth and reduce risk. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to improve our data solutions and purchases, and address business needs.
Responsibilities:
Support the development of innovative and effective strategies to drive business growth and credit and fraud risk management excellence
Analyze existing and new data sources to reveal opportunities to streamline our data solutions and purchases
Review and monitor data quality, coverage, and freshness
Analyze existing data to develop metrics that will deliver strong insights
Collaborate with new and existing data partners to identify new data opportunities and improve existing data exchange processes
Work closely with associates across Risk Management, Product Owners, Compliance, and Decision Science
Requirements:
Proven ability to work independently and across a matrixed organization to deliver solutions at maximum speed
Ability to manage and lead large-scale projects with multiple cross-functional partners
Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate data and business insights into actionable recommendations
Strong technical skills to perform data analysis, reporting, and visualization
Knowledge of Python, SQL, Tableau, SAS, and familiarity with big data and cloud environments
Experience in a financial services organization in a data or strategy capacity
Knowledge of credit risk or fraud risk principles, practices, or external credit or fraud risk data sources preferred
Graduate degree or higher required, focus in a quantitative field preferred
