[Remote] Data Scientist/AI Intern

The role involves creating prototypes, replicating workflows, and writing well-documented code using Python and R.ResponsibilitiesCreate well-documented prototypes that replicate small, non-production modules from legacy SAS workflows (e.g., simple edit checks or summary routines) in Python/R, plus unit edits checks or summary routinesHelp understand and replicate small, simple modules from legacy SAS workflows using Python or RWrite clear and well-documented code to ensure it is easy for others to read and maintainCreate unit tests for the new Python or R code to ensure it works correctly and matches the output of the original SAS codeUse synthetic or de-identified sample data to demonstrate that the new code produces the same results as the legacy codeContribute to discussions on code modernization by providing detailed documentation and reference implementationsSkillsMust be a U.S. Citizen or U.S National studying in the U.S. or abroadInternational students on valid visas may participate if they meet applicable immigration, visa, and agency authoritiesBe enrolled not less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited educational institutionMust be in good academic standing as defined by their academic institutionCommit to volunteering 8 β 20 hours per week for a minimum of 90 daysComplete all required onboarding documentation assigned by the Federal agency and your academic institutionAgree to volunteer.
