[Remote] Data Scientist

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) is seeking a motivated Data Scientist to join their Innovation team. The role involves supporting internal analytics and applied research initiatives by building data pipelines, developing data visualization tools, and translating complex datasets into actionable insights.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Python-based data pipelines that collect, process, and ingest data from multiple sourcesImprove existing data workflows with a focus on quality assurance, sustainability, documentation, and maintainabilityEnsure analytic workflows are reproducible, well-structured, and scalableSupport responsible handling of sensitive data in compliance with FERPA and AACOM data governance standardsDevelop dashboards and data visualization tools primarily using Tableau and PythonMaintain and enhance existing dashboards, internal analytics tools, and client-facing data productsTranslate complex datasets into accessible and actionable visual insightsTranslate defined research designs into executable analytic workflowsClean, transform, and validate complex administrative and survey datasetsConduct quantitative analyses with increasing independence over timeContribute to applied research initiatives including workforce studies, survey analysis, and text-based or NLP projectsSupport development and operationalization of statistical and/or ML models used in research and operational initiativesPartner with colleagues across AACOM departments to support strategic data and analytics initiativesContribute to a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and process improvementDocument workflows, methodologies, and technical processes clearly and consistentlyStay current on emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in data science and analyticsSkillsBachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field; or equivalent professional experienceThree(3) or more years of experience working with Python and SQLOne(1) or more years of experience building data models and using advanced analytics, including machine learning or statistical modeling techniquesStrong proficiency in Python and SQLExperience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization librariesStrong data cleaning, validation, and troubleshooting skillsExperience working with structured datasets and relational databasesExposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and/or AzureUnderstanding of Dev Ops or deployment practicesComfort using modern AI-assisted tools where appropriateAbility to work independently, manage ambiguity, and solve problems proactivelyStrong attention to detail and documentation practicesIntellectual curiosity, adaptability, and openness to feedbackAbility to manage sensitive data responsibly and in compliance with FERPABenefitsAnnual bonus program403(b) with generous employer contributionCompany paid medical, dental, and vision insuranceCompany-provided life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability plansFlexible Spending Account12 annual company-paid holidaysVacation & sick leave benefitsProfessional development opportunities And more!Company OverviewFounded in 1898, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) is the leading voice for the education and training of physicians who practice osteopathic medicine in settings ranging from primary care to pediatrics.
